Sustainability Matters primary purpose is to improve the performance and advantages of New Zealand organisations from a sustainability, or triple bottom line perspective.

The traditional measure of organisation success - financial outcomes - is an incomplete method of measurement and excludes key elements. These exclusions result in an "unbalanced scorecard".

Hence organisations should add a 'quiver full' of other ways of thinking to assist archers shoot straight and steady arrows to the targets of organisational success; so organisations are built to last.

Experience of New Zealand companies to date which have embarked on this approach is that the time energy and effort have been worthwhile in every regard. This ranges from a small privately owned eight person company to the very largest organisations in New Zealand.

To this end a number of orgnisations in various sectors, including the Prime Minister and Government are encouraging organisations to embark on the first steps of their 'sustainability journey'. This will help New Zealand in its quest to become a "small clever country", to retain (and improve upon) its clean green image and ensure its viability in the wider world. It will also help innovation and the development of New Zealanders' skill base.

Sustainability Matters is small, flexible, versatile, independent and reliable, and provides a wide range of skills and expertise in these and allied areas.
